Hoysala Temples 7: Sri Lakshminarashimhaswamy temple, Javagal

Date: 13th Feb 2016

Visitors: Arun, Shilpi and Harsh

Fee: None.

Main Deity: Lord Vishnu

From Haranahalli we were searching for the Mosale twin temples but after some circus we found we had reached wrong mosale. Disappointed we decided to visit Javagal as it was next on list. We reached the temple around 12 Noon. There was a group of 10 people in the temple singing some devotional songs and waiting for the noon pooja to finish.  As the pooja was underway we went around the temple for clicking some pics. We waited for some time and the pooja didn't seem ending. We were starving as Saturday's were direct lunch day and we were about to leave. Then an elderly aunty said the pooja will get over soon and asked us to wait and have prasadham. We stayed back and had a wonderful darshan of Lord Narashimha. The prasadham was actually a mini meal. There was sweet pongal, spicy pongal and curd rice. All 3 tasted very good. We thanked the elderly aunty and then left the temple happily with both heart and stomach filled. Outside the temple Harsh got to see and operate the water hand pump for the first time.

Some pics from the temple.

Main entrance to the temple.

Facade of the temple.

Side view of the temple from a low angle.

The elephant structure outside the temple.

Some avatars of Lord Vishnu.

The ornate wall. Most of the structures in this temple is still holding up well.

Few closer look at the carvings on the walls.

Lord Ram and lakshman.

Lord Ganesha

First thing that came to my mind when i saw the name Javagal was Srinath. He was born in Mysuru and not in Javagal as i was thinking.
