Pamban Bridge: India's First Sea Bridge.

Date: 1st March 2015

Visitors: Arun, Shilpi, Harsh, Muthusamy and Vijayalaksmi

Pamban Bridge is one of the popular tourist attraction in Rameshwaram.
This is India's first sea bridge connecting Mainland to Pamban Island.

The bridge was open in 1914 and has completed 100 Years of functioning.

This is a collapsible rail bridge. The center section can be opened when bigger boats or ships has to cross.
We reached the bridge around 11:15 AM and were lucky to be on time to see a train over sea.

Picture of waterways meeting railways taken from roadways ;)

1964 cyclone destroyed the line from Pamban to Danushkodi. Only the line from Pamban to Rameshwaram is in use currently.

Harsh couldn't take his eyes of the train.
Enjoying the view. We were not expecting to see the train.
When you go anywhere with less expectation, even a smallest event brings in great joy. Have experienced the opposite too :).
