Undavalli caves near Vijayawada is a four storeyed rock cut cave temple. It was carved somewhere between 6th and 7th century AD during the vishnukundina rule in deccan. The top and the bottom floors are unfinished. The first floor has the idols of Tirumurthi, Lord Bramha, Vishnu and Shiva. The second floor houses the anantha padmanabha swamy, Lord Vishnu in reclining pose on the serpent king Adisesha. There are few more smaller caves nearby but the four storeyed structure was the main attraction. These caves probably were Buddhist caves once and later the idols of Hindu gods were added. These caves looks a bit similar to the Kandhagiri and Udayagiri caves in Bhubaneswar.
