Located a kilometer away from the Golconda fort is the Qutb sahi tombs. These tombs are the final resting place of all except the last Qutb sahi rulers and some of their close aides. Qutb sahi's ruled Golconda till aurangzeb captured it. There were in total 8 qutb sahi rulers of which the 3rd Qutb sahi subhan quli qutb sahi ruled for a year when he was 7 years old. Many time he was left out of the list of rulers and considered only 7 qutb sahi rulers. There is no tomb for subhan quli qutb sahi. The tombs of the royal family are two storied ones while the others were of one story. At the center of each tomb is a stone coffin. The tombs are huge domes built on a square base. All the tombs have the graves of king and their companions.
They might have been great rulers once upon a time but their end was not so great. The first king was killed by his younger son Jamsheed. 2nd King Jamsheed died of TB. 3rd king Subhan died at age of 8. 4th king Ibrahim died of illness. 5th King did not have a son to succeed. 6th king died a natural death. 7th king was defeated by Aurangzeb. 8th King died as prisoner.
